This afternoon we took a road trip - Dan, Patsy and Alven and I. My Sister-In-Law and Brother-In-Law had seen this amazing tree when they were exploring. So they showed it to us. Here are my photos.
Journeys
I have stood here
Growing towards the heavens.
Buffeted by wind,
Rain,
Snow Covered,
Parched
During droughts.
Weathered.
Lightning burned
my heart.
Opening, Twisting
I bend.
But do not break.
Now I am
A wooden Arch,
A portal.
Still
Living.
Amazing and wonderful! Actually the best word is inspirational, along with your poem, so appropriate to give the tree a voice, sort of like honoring it, right? I like especially that you connected the word "portal" to the tree. Thanks Ruth-see you in April!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos, and even more so the poem. They both complement each other so well!
ReplyDeleteDon't you wish you could read it to the tree now? Let it know someone understands. The poem almost really deserves to be on a plaque by the tree for others to read and remember.
