The Marmalade Cat
Allows Homage.
Browns, golds and oranges.
The Marmalade Cat
Sits watching.
Wood and rust

Ruth, I saw the wonderful pics on FB, but I cannot get the Animoto to load. Don't know if it's my problem but I can't make it work. I love the poem, especially that first part about the cat 'allowing" homage-so, so true.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the 'cremesicle' cat that rules our neighborhood. They truly rule everything they can see.
ReplyDeleteOrangies are such great cats. With their golden, sometimes reddish, but yellow fur and green eyes. So dignified. Monochromatic? Really? So many tones in an orangie. :-) But regal, indeed!
ReplyDeleteMarmalade is the perfect word to describe that color.

ReplyDeleteThe colors were such a wonderful setting for this cat's bearing. He just looked at me like you "may" be in my presence.
ReplyDeleteAs I got out of the car I saw his tail twitch. I noticed the wonderful hues and tints of the cat that were also playing out in his yard. There were all kinds of tints, shades and hues of orangish-brown. The stump and plants continued that monochromatic pallete. To me it was so rich. So I ran in and got the camera.
Yes, that expression is one of "Oh you again, take a picture if you must, but be quick about it." The cat does rule.
ReplyDeleteI love your use of repetition in this poem. It really adds to the rhythm. The cat does indeed rule.
