SOLC #8 - My Shadow Watches the Future

My Shadow Wears
A battered felt hat, with a wide brim
Trousers dusty from work
Farmer boots.
And he knows
The order of things.
His hair is like
Short spiky stalks from the stubble field.
My shadow is a worker
Watching the future approach
Finding unlikely solutions
To common problems.

  2. This is great. I love the odd shape of the shadow and the ideas you gleaned from this old photo.

  3. When I looked at the shadow several possibilities occurred to me -
    bag over his shoulder
carrying pelts ( I see a few spiky shadows)
straw (like the farmer in the 3 little pigs)

  4. This is very neat. I like how the poem reflects the photo, or the other way around.

  5. I picked the picture, then the type of poem and then wrote it to reflect the picture. A couple years ago I was on Poem farm and she and an artist had collaborated on a poem picture combination. I was hooked. http://www.poemfarm.amylv.com/

  6. Great poem, nicely paired with the photo. Even though I can't see the farmer in the photo, I see him in the poem. Great use of imagery.
